A vegan ‘supergran’ is repaying a charity which rescued her dog by taking on a non-stop 120-mile walk in her hometown of Brighton, UK.
Serena Queeney, 67, paid tribute to her vegan diet in building up her stamina for the 60-hour walk.
The mammoth task will take 60 hours, and all the money she raises will go to charity K-9 Angels.
Queeney said the charity is ‘close to my heart because they help rescue dogs from around the world’.
“I’m confident I’ll complete this challenge,” she wrote on her donation page.
“I would really appreciate your support & a donation to help K-9 Angels carry on helping dogs in desperate need so they can send food, shelter and medical help to help dogs in appalling conditions.”
Serena has mapped out a 1 mile loop in Brighton which she will complete non-stop 120 times.
She has been training since January and recently completed a 50 mile coastal walk in Norfolk carrying a heavy backpack.
“After rescuing my little chihuahua Frankie, I wanted to help dogs any way I can,” she told The Argus.
“I’m walking in one-mile loops around Grand Junction Road and past Habitat where my good friend Judy, 84, will keep track of laps.
“We may be grans but nothing will stop us helping our four-legged best friends.”
Serena said she hopes for good weather, but will complete the course regardless.
“My daughter Suzie and some of the K-9 Angels will be on course to cheer me on and collect donations,” she continued.
“I’ll be thinking of my Frankie and less fortunate dogs that desperately need our help.”
