“Everyone has their own reasons for choosing veganism; we want to show it doesn’t have to be all or nothing, and you don’t have to sacrifice good food for the cause.”

Meal subscription company Vibrant Vegan is offering a meat-lover £50,000 to ditch animal products and go plant-based for 90 days.

The initiative – which aims to provide “a real-life account of plant-based diets and encourage more Brits to become vegan-curious in 2021”- follows Vibrant Vegan’s survey of more than 1,500 meat-eaters.

Help people on-the-fence

The survey found that a third admitted that they are ‘vegan-curious’.

In addition, Google Trends search data showed that more people than ever have been looking up about vegan diets with searches peaking each January. In 2020 vegan related searches were three times higher than they were in 2017.

“This coincides with the Veganuary non-profit initiative which began in 2014 and now receives 100 times more search interest than it did when it began, indicating that people are becoming more and more vegan-curious each year” the company explained.

This Veganuary- a campaign that challenges people to go vegan for the month of January and beyond has already got more than 500,00 sign-ups so far.

“To help people on-the-fence, we decided that we show them that even die-hard meat eaters can enjoy the benefits of a vegan diet, which is why we are now on the hunt for the UK’s biggest meat lover this Veganuary,” Vibrant Vegan added.

‘Vegan Curious Coordinator’

For £50,000, the person, chosen as the company’s ‘Vegan Curious Coordinator’ will sign a contract pledging to not consume any animal by-products while trialling, testing, and encouraging others to give the vegan lifestyle a shot on social media.

The participant will also receive an unlimited supply of the brand’s vegan ready meals to make the switch smooth and hassle-free.

The main objective of the role would be sharing the experience of making the switch with other meat-eaters as well as sharing thoughts on the brand’s meals.

At the end of the three months, a new contract will be signed if the person commits to going vegan for the rest of 2021.

While there’s no extra monetary benefit for doing so, the Vegan Curious Coordinator will be given a complementary lifetime supply of Vibrant Vegan meals worth £100,000.

‘No sacrifice of good food for the cause’

“There was a time when being vegan was an all or nothing lifestyle choice; and vegan food options were considered lesser than their meat-based counterparts,” Iain Burke-Hamilton, founder of Vibrant Vegan, said.

“As we head into the New Year, we at Vibrant Vegan want to demonstrate not only the health and environmental benefits of being vegan that we hear so much about, but also highlight that vegan food can, and should, be enjoyed by everyone – even the UK’s biggest meat lover!”

He added: “We’re incredibly excited to hire our first Vegan Curious Coordinator and to watch them share their journey with people that love good food and are interested in a vegan lifestyle but perhaps feel it’s too much of a commitment or simply aren’t sure where to start.

“Everyone has their own reasons for choosing veganism; we want to show it doesn’t have to be all or nothing, and you don’t have to sacrifice good food for the cause.”

The offer is open to all meat-eating applicants in the UK aged between 18 to 65 years old. The brand would also like to know why you’re right for the role.
