‘It is an honor to be able to spread [our sustainable food] mission, and our delicious “This is not Cheese” range, to a wider audience’
Today, three products from Willicroft, a popular Amsterdam based vegan cheese brand, have launched in the UK for the first time.
The move follows Willicroft’s cheeses landing at Albert Heijn – the largest supermarket with over 100 stores across the Netherlands and Belgium.
The 3 products from the range “This is Not Cheese” launching in the UK include:
- This is not Cheese Fondue, which has a RSP of £7.50 for 280g
- This is not Grated Cheese Italian Style, which has a RSP of £3.50 for 75g
- This is not Classic Cream Cheese, which has a RSP of £3.50 for 135g
All of these products will be available at Waitrose, Wholefoods, and Planet Organic and As Nature Intended outlets, as well as online on TheVeganKind Supermarket website.
According to Willicroft, each of these products demonstrates ‘that plant-based cheese can be just as decadent as its dairy alternative’, and is versatile enough to be served in bagels and sandwiches, as well as on bread, vegetables, pizza, pasta, salads and more.
The Willicroft brand
The idea behind Willicroft’s range of homemade vegan cheeses was born after founder Brad Vanstone – an Englishman whose grandparents were dairy farmers, switched to plant-based living in 2016. Finding no suitable cheese alternative, Vanstone was inspired to launch his own line of dairy-free cheeses using cashew nuts, tofu and other plant-based ingredients.
According to Vanstone, Willicroft was also founded to address “the greatest issues facing humanity today – the warming of our planet.” This is why its products are packaged in recyclable containers, and most ingredients are sourced ethically and locally where possible.
‘An honor’
“It’s super humbling that our fondue, cream cheese and Grated cheese Italian style cheese are now available across the UK,” Vanstone said in a statement.
“We have worked long and hard to advocate the importance of sustainable food as a way to help the climate crisis,” he added.
“It is an honor to be able to spread this mission, and our delicious “This is not Cheese” range, to a wider audience.”
