‘Many families have had to surrender their pets after losing jobs, wages or housing security’, leaving many animals in need.

Vegan singer Miley Cyrus and boyfriend Cody Simpson adopted a new dog in order to help the helpless animals abandoned during the ongoing lockdown period.

Simpson shared photos of their new pet – a Shepard mix puppy called Bo- named in honour of the singer’s dad- Billy Ray Cyrus.

“Baby boy Bo. Stay safe everyone,” Cody wrote alongside the post.

Miley chose to rescue the dog from The Wagmor Luxury Spa, Hotel & Rescue in Studio City, Calif., the same place from where her other pets-a Shetland sheepdog named Emu and a little mixed breed pup named Beanie have been adopted.

Later, Melissa Bacelar, the owner of The Wagmor, discussed the need to rescue or adopt pets in these trying times on Cyrus’- Bright Minded online talk show.

She explained that many animals were in need as “many families have had to surrender their pets after losing jobs, wages or housing security.

“In addition, many shelters are closing because of strict orders for only essential businesses to operate..across the country.”

Both Cyrus and Bacelar urged others to help abandoned pets in this time of need by fostering, adopting or donating to rescue centers so that centers could continue to take care of the pets.
