Honest Burgers to launch plant-based bacon cheeseburgers in January

UK fast-food chain Honest Burgers has announced a new plant-based bacon burger and return of its meaty January Special just in time for Veganuary.

Honest Burgers is slated to sell a limited edition of its vegan monthly special – the Bacon Plant burger – available exclusively from 2nd January to 3rd February.

The new vegan sandwich is assembled using Beyond Meat’s plant-based meat patty, slices of vegan bacon from THIS, vegan smoked gouda, shoestring fries, plant-based bacon ketchup, chipotle ‘mayo’, spinach and pickles and served with Honest’s signature homemade rosemary salted chips.

The plant-bacon meal will feature in all of its nearly 40 restaurants across the UK, including London, Bristol, Manchester and Cardiff.

Speaking of the launch, Honest Burgers co-founder Tom Barton said: “Our Bacon Plant special ticks all the bacon boxes – savoury, smoky, salty and satisfying – but it’s 100% vegan. We’re impressed with This Isn’t Bacon’s plant-based rashers, which we’ve turned into a great homemade bacon ketchup.”

The fast-food chain will also have its ‘Tribute To Bacon’ sandwich made with Honest beef with double bacon, Westcombe Dairy smoked cheddar, bacon gravy, shoestring fries, bacon mayo, lettuce and pickles back for the next month.

Honest Burgers was the first UK outlet to sell the Beyond Burger in Summer 2018. The vegan burger was rolled out across the chain’s outlets after the plant-based burger featuring the patty, vegan cheese, chipotle mayonnaise, aquafaba mayo, lettuce, tomato, and onion was trialed successfully in one central London location.
