M&S to launch new vegan range with 100 plant-based meals, snacks and drinks – just in time for Veganuary

M&S has a massive and impressive vegan lineup with innovative meat-less options to ring in the new year.

The brand’s popular Plant Kitchen range has been steadily adding new vegan dishes to its repertoire the past year and the supermarket is now ready for another onslaught of new vegan dishes in an attempt to offer more choices to customers looking for plant-based meals.

This year too, the shelves will be stocked with all kinds of vegan treats, ready meals, snack food, healthy dinners, curries and drinks.

According to April Preston, Director of Product Development at M&S: “Veganism is a trend that we are absolutely loving at M&S.

“As our customers continue to experiment and adopt more flexitarian diets, we too are having fun creating new products to fit within this.

“Following the successful launch of our amazing Plant Kitchen range last year, we’ve turned the heat up and have challenged ourselves to create some of the best vegan-friendly products on the high street, focusing particularly on turning well-loved products into plant-based versions and celebrating vegetables in all their forms!”

The range includes comfort food such as Tofish & Chips featuring battered tofu goujons served alongside chips and a vegan tartare sauce for £3.50.

Next up is a No Tuna & Sweetcorn Sandwich that swaps fish for soy protein with added sweetcorn and vegan mayo.

Healthy veg pots

The ones looking for healthier options can indulge on the supermarket’s range of healthy veg pots, which include roasted and spiced veggies tossed in yummy sauce. Priced at £3.50, take your pick from the following:

  • The Roasted one, which includes garlic roasted veg and rice with a rosemary and tomato sauce
  • The Bang Bang one, which includes an aromatic vegetable curry with a spicy coconut sauce
  • The Fiery one, which includes a spiced vegetable and cauliflower couscous with a harissa sauce

Chicken-less meals

For the ones looking for chicken alternatives can feast on Smokehouse No Chicken, a “sweet and smoky” chilled wrap for £4 featuring plant-based chicken chunks dunked in smoky BBQ sauce and coated with dairy-free slaw, vegan cheese and spicy tomato dressing.

The No Chicken Kiev for £3.50 is a vegan take with breaded soya patties filled with “oozy and delicious, garlicky vegan butter”, according to M&S.

Also hitting the shelves are an array of tasty potato gluten -free crispies available in Smoky BBQ, Hummus & Lime and Sea Salt & Apple Cider Vinegar flavours.

Another healthy alternative is the Popped Corn Triangles for £1. The healthy chips are low in calories and saturated fat and are made with a variety of pulses including peas and lentils. Flavours include Spiced Coconut, made with chickpeas and red lentils, Wasabi, made with green peas and kale, and Sweet & Salty.

Other high fibre/high protein savoury snacks combine nuts, peas and crackers and come in Chilli & Lime, Smoky BBQ,Hot Pepper Kick and Balsamic & Sea Salt flavours all priced at £1.50.

Beetroot & Carrot Bourguignon, Carrot, Mango & Turmeric Smoothies, No Smoked Salmon & Potato Salad, Lentil Shepherd’s Pie with Root Vegetable Mash, and Cottage Pie are some of the other new additions to the brand’s Plant Kitchen range.
