Award winning vegan kebab brand to continue to dish out healthy meals amid lockdown

‘Feeding you vegan kebabs is the least we can do.

After the UK’s Prime Minister issued a stark directive instructing Britons to stay away from public places including bars and restaurants in wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, the hospitality industry is in a dire situation.

With no footfall some have been forced to shut shop, while others are clearly flailing to stay afloat.

However, this has not deterred What The Pitta! founders Cem Yildiz and Rojdan Gul to continue their quest in providing tasty and healthy nutritious vegan fare to their customers.

The award-winning vegan kebab chain is firing on all cylinders so that they can continue to deliver delicious and 100 percent vegan kebabs, gyros and nuggets to those in quarantine or self-isolation.

In an Instagram post, the brand wrote: “Following the Government’s latest announcement, we wanted to let you know that we are moving all our stores to delivery only via @deliveroo and UberEats this means that you should not visit any of our stores.

While implementing measures for its staff’s safety the brand stated that all of them would be doing additional shifts and would walk, cycle or drive to work.

Continuing the post, the company added: “We continue to monitor the situation closely but will keep feeding you for as long as we can.

“We continue to follow all recommendations on regularly washing hands, using gloves and sanitising areas with anti-viral wipes more often.

“We have also made designated pick up points in our stores for delivery drivers to ensure that deliveries are fully contactless and at safe distances.

“We would like to thank you for your continued support during this time. Feeding you vegan kebabs is the least we can do. So stay safe, stay healthy and stay in.”

What The Pitta was launched in 2016 with selling kebabs at pop-ups around London and has since then expanded to in Hackney, Croydon, Brighton and Camden.

Earlier this month, the vegan kebab chain also bagged the Best Takeaway Award at the eighth annual British Kebab Awards.

“We were laughed at when we decided to create London’s first exclusively vegan kebab shop just over three years ago, and now we’ve taken centre stage with our vegan spin on the British classic kebab. We can’t thank our fans enough for the support,” Co-founder Cem told MyLondon.

“To win at the British Kebab Awards is a huge statement for veganism and just how far it has come.”
