Singer and TV personality Peter Andre has pledged to go plant-based for Veganuary.

The Mysterious Girl star singer has partnered with Beyond Meat to promote the 31-day challenge and help reduce his environmental impact.

In a clip shared on Instagram, he said: “I’m teaming up with the wonderful guys from Beyond Meat for Veganuary to help everyone take their first steps in going plant-based.”

He also shared a video recipe for spaghetti bolognese using Beyond Meat’s plant-based meat, which he claims cooks and tastes just like animal meat.

Andre leads a flexitarian lifestyle

Andre, who has been known for his ripped abs since he was a teenager, still likes to remain in shape, and part of achieving that includes following a flexitarian lifestyle.

The father of four has been limiting the amount of meat he eats and swapping in meat-free alternatives up to three times a week.

It is incredibly easy to live a flexitarian lifestyle, something which I’m a huge believer in,” he said.

“It’s all about the balance and I’m just loving that in my life right now!”

Andre X Beyond Meat

As part of the #FirstStepBeyond campaign, the Australian star will host a cooking contest and challenge Brits to pair store cupboard essentials with a delicious Beyond Meat product to create a dish that’s kinder on the planet.

The lucky winner and a friend will then be whisked off to London for an all-expenses-paid two-night stay, including up to £500 in travel costs, £500 in spending money, and luxury accommodation at One Denman Place before cooking their winning recipe with Peter himself.

Toni Vernelli, Head of Communications for Veganuary, said: “The way Beyond Meat shines is that it is often the first step to someone becoming plant-based.

“Often, meat-eaters take their first step to going plant-based by trying Beyond Meat products, as it’s so close to meat. They then realise it’s great and start trying more plant-based mat products and vegetables, and hey presto, they are plant-based.”

Bram Meijer, Marketing Director EMEA, Beyond Meat, added: “We want to show Brits just how easy it is to take the first step to a more plant-based diet this Veganuary. By putting Beyond Meat at the centre of your plate, you are still able to eat what you love—like a juicy burger—without having to compromise on taste or sustainability.

Celebs supporting Veganuary

Andre joins a slew of celebrity Veganuary participants this year, including Diane Morgan, star of Motherland, Afterlife, and Mandy, ITV chef and baker Juliet Sear, and Alexandra Mardell, aka Corrie’s Emma Brooker.

Previous years’ participants have included rock legend Brian May, TV presenter Jasmine Harman, wildlife presenter Chris Packham, ‘dragon’ Deborah Meaden, Eastenders’ Kellie Bright, and actor Peter Egan, all of whom continue to support the charity.
