Morrisons has introduced a vegan version of its classic pork pie increasing its range for a rapidly growing plant-based market.

The Vegan ‘No Pork’ Pie will be on sale from December 9th at £1.75 each or two for £3.

The vegan pork variant is close on the heels of the brand’s foot-long vegan sausage roll, which is available at Morrisons’ pie counters for £1 each.

The food team at Morrisons has been at the secret pork pie recipe for a while with the ingredient details known to only six staff members.

The brand is looking to mimic the meaty taste and crumbly texture of this classic British staple.

Morrisons Pie Expert Steven Halford said:  “So many people across the UK are fond of eating a pork pie at Christmas. Our vegan and vegetarian customers previously couldn’t enjoy a pork pie but with our new meat-free product they can enjoy a great tasting alternative.”

Last month, the UK supermarket announced its vegan Christmas range, which includes an assortment of tasty vegan options such as a plant-based version of the staple Christmas pigs in blankets, Katsu Croquettes, Korean Jackfruit Bao Buns, and a Best Vegetable Layered Tart.
