Morrisons has revealed its festive plant-based range for Christmas, increasing its range to cater for a rapidly growing market.
The UK supermarket has announced an assortment of tasty vegan options including a plant-based version of the staple Christmas pigs in blankets, Katsu Croquettes, Korean Jackfruit Bao Buns, and a Best Vegetable Layered Tart.
The plant-based pigs in blankets feature munchy sausages made from jackfruit and chickpeas coated in “streaky pastry” instead of bacon.
You can also enjoy Katsu croquettes filled with sweet potato, carrots and red pepper in a katsu curry sauce and the Korean Jackfruit Bao Buns made with pulled jackfruit, BBQ sauce and mixed vegetables in spicy gochujang sauce.
The main course meal is a signature Best Vegetable Layered Tart prepared with spiced beetroot, butternut squash, spinach, cranberry and onion chutney and topped with roasted chestnuts wrapped up in vegan-friendly puff pastry.
Vegan Christmas
Most supermarkets and food retailers have revealed elaborate festive vegan selection.
Tesco shoppers can enjoy the festival with vegan pigs in blankets, Butternut Squash, Mushroom, and Chestnut Wreath, Carrot & Thyme Tarte Tatin and a Sweet Potato & Red Cabbage Christmas Log along with delicious desserts.
Marks and Spencer’s Christmas offer includes vegan no pigs in blankets, a plant-based root vegetable Tarte Tatin entrée, a vegan sweet potato sandwich with chestnut and cranberry roast and dark chocolate and cherry dessert.
Waitrose has geared up with an assortment of tasty canapés, main meals, and mouthwatering desserts.
“We’ve worked really hard as a team to develop a delicious Christmas range that shows how vegan and vegetarian food can be full of flavour. We hope our customers now feel there is no need for those with food preferences or speciality diets to feel like they’re missing out during the festive season,” said Chloe Graves, Waitrose & Partners’ vegan vendor.
Sainsbury’s mouthwatering food-to-order options include festive plant-based meals, trimmings, puddings, and pastries with pre-bookings already underway.
