“Jennifer Coolidge’s huge heart for animals is rivalled only by the size of her talent.”
Jennifer Coolidge has been named this year’s “Vegan Queen” by animal rights group PETA as recognition for her dedication to animal liberation during Women’s History Month 2023.
The White Lotus actress received praise from PETA Senior Vice President Lisa Lange for her dedication to inspiring everyone to avoid using products that have been tested on animals in their food, clothing, or cosmetics.
“Jennifer Coolidge’s huge heart for animals is rivalled only by the size of her talent,” Lange said.
“PETA is crowning her our ‘Vegan Queen’ this year for using every opportunity she gets to encourage everyone to keep cruelty to animals out of their cuisine, closets, and cosmetics.”
Following the announcement, Coolidge took to Instagram to thank PETA for the honour.
“You were the first animal advocacy group that I was lucky enough to discover. When I first learned about you and the work you do on behalf of animals globally, I knew I had found my people,” she wrote.
“You fearlessly expose the harsh realities of animal cruelty and prove just how powerful animal lovers can be when they organise and take action. I am honoured to be recognized by an organisation that I’ve admired so much for so long.”
Jennifer Coolidge’s love for animals
Coolidge has been vocal on various animal rights issues over the years and appeared on the cover of PETA’s cruelty-free shopping guide in 2003.
In the same year, she declined to participate in a hot dog commercial unless the company introduced a vegan product.
She later told People: “It was a hot dog company that just did the meat hot dogs, and I eat these amazing plant-based hot dogs. So I said to the company, ‘If you guys come out with plant-based hot dogs, I will definitely do a commercial for you.’”
Jennifer Coolidge’s diet
Although Coolidge has not publicly confirmed whether she follows a vegan lifestyle,
Coolidge has never publicly stated that he’s vegan, but she has been described as a “devout vegan and animal-rights advocate.”
She has also been active in the plant-based scene over the years, endorsing vegan food, fashion, and beauty regularly.
She even appeared in a Super Bowl ad for the vegan company e. l. f beauty in 2023, where she stated that she has always been passionate about vegan and cruelty-free beauty.
Other celebrities honoured for promoting animal advocacy and veganism
Apart from Coolidge, several other celebrities have also been recognized by PETA for their dedication to animal welfare and their promotion of veganism.
These include Joaquin Phoenix, who was named PETA’s Person of the Year in 2019 for his efforts to promote animal rights and his commitment to veganism. Billie EiIish was named PETA’s Person of the Year in 2021 because she “never stays silent about animal protection and actively works to help animals.”
Alicia Silverstone was named the Sexiest Vegan of 2004, and in 2020, Lizzo and Selena Gomez were named winners at PETA’s 15th annual Libby Awards for promoting veganism.
