The company’s third iteration is meatier, healthier, and about to hit grocery stores on 3rd May.
Beyond Meat has announced the highly-anticipated new version of its flagship Beyond Burger.
The latest iteration is the company’s ‘meatiest, juiciest burger yet’. It features mouthwatering taste and a slew of stronger nutritional wins in comparison to 80/20 beef.
The upgraded version has 35% less fat and saturated fat, fewer calories and no cholesterol, a comparable level of B vitamins, and a meatier flavour resembling that of ground beef.
The 3rd major iteration of Beyond Meat’s iconic product is set to hit grocery stores in the first week of May and restaurants in June.
It will be sold in a pack of 2, a brand-new value pack of 4 for $9.99, and in a 1-pound Beyond Beef pack.
Innovation at Beyond Meat
The launch comes as part of Beyond Meat’s rapid and relentless innovation efforts to meet consumers’ growing demand for delicious, nutritious and sustainable plant-based meat made without GMOs.
According to the plant-based food company, a 2018 Michigan study showed that producing Beyond Burgers generated 90% fewer greenhouse gas emissions than regular beef.
A Stanford study published in The American Journal of Clinical Nutrition found that participants replacing animal-based meat with Beyond Meat’s plant-based meat over an 8-week period reported improvement in key health metrics related to cholesterol levels (including LDL), heart disease risk factors including TMAO levels, and body weight.
Beyond Meat has now established the Plant-Based Diet Initiative Fund at Stanford University’s School of Medicine to create a repository of cutting-edge research that will help drive innovation in the plant-based meat space for better human health
It is also working to unveil its second new Beyond Burger patty later this year that claims to be even healthier with 55% less saturated fat than 80/20 beef.
Healthier and tastier plant-based beef platform
“We are continuously working on understanding beef flavor at a deeper level to ensure our plant-based beef platform delivers a delicious and satisfying sensory experience,” Dariush Ajami, Chief Innovation Officer, Beyond Meat said.
“The new Beyond Burger’s rich flavor profile resembles that of ground beef, and extensive testing with our consumers validated this new flavor direction with likeability scoring on-par with 80/20 ground beef burgers.”
Ethan Brown, the Founder, and CEO of Beyond Meat added: “The launch of the latest Beyond Burger iteration is another strong step forward in providing consumers with absolutely delicious plant-based meat that is better for people and the planet, no sacrifice required.
“It is my hope that these meaningful advances in taste and nutrition, using only non-GMO plant-based ingredients, will delight existing consumers and invite others to join us in Going Beyond.”
To celebrate the launch, Beyond Meat will give a sneak peek to fans in six cities including Los Angeles, Miami, Atlanta, New York City, Dallas, and Chicago.
Customers can be among the very first to taste the new Beyond Burger for free before it enters stores by visiting one of the exclusive mobile pop-ups in the selected spots on 1st and 2nd May between 11am to 5pm, while supplies last.
