The brand has collaborated with Follow Your Heart to veganize its fan-favorite cheese spread flavor, Garlic & Herbs.

Dairy brand Boursin is all set to launch a plant-based version of its most popular Garlic & Herbs cheese spread flavor by the end of this month in the US.

The news follows French multinational cheese producer Bel Group – the parent company, announcing plans to roll out plant-based cheeses in each of its core brands in the coming months.

The new vegan product has been developed by teaming up with vegan brand Follow Your Heart (FYH), and is made using organic coconut oil along with organic expeller-pressed canola oil.

‘Great pride’

Speaking to VegNews, FYH Founder and CEO Bob Goldberg said: “We take great pride in the fact that Boursin and the Bel Group have trusted our knowledge and expertise in this realm and that we have been able to support the launch of such an amazing and delicious product.

“We’re truly delighted to see this savory treat now available to dairy-free consumers and those thinking of taking their own leap into dairy-free.”

Boursin’s plant-based cheese spread will sell for a suggested retail price of $6.99 and will be exclusively available on Amazon Fresh by the end of October and in-stores starting next year.

New food model

Apart from Boursin’s plant-based cheese, Bel is developing a plant-based mini Babybel that will be launched next year in the US. It is also working on launching a brand-new international brand that will be entirely dedicated to vegan products.

According to the company, it has been pursuing a transformation strategy to conform to the “new food model” that prioritises health and eco-responsibility.

Bel’s executive vice-president, Cécile Béliot, said: “For the past year, we have been accelerating the Group’s transformation, with the conviction that a responsible and profitable growth is possible: an enlightened ‘capitalism’ that is moving from a logic of balance of power to a logic of value sharing, beyond any major stakes. This is what guides all the Group’s actions today.”
