Wentz also runs a hunting YouTube channel Wentz Bros Outdoors and has hunted several animals including ducks, deer and turkeys in the past.

NFL free agent Carson Wentz has come under stark criticism after posting an image of a dead black bear that he bow-hunted.

The NFL QB was on a trip to Atlanta recently and posted a few pictures of his outing on Instagram along with pictures of him hunting down a big black bear.

“Bucket list. Got the opportunity to spot and stalk black bear in one of our new favourite placed on earth – Alaska! Incredible trip and an incredible animal,” he wrote.

Hunting bears is allowed in parts of Alaska if the state’s hunting regulations are followed. The American state has around 30,000 bears in its vicinity.

Backlash

Netizens flocked to the post and thrashed Carson Wentz for hunting down a bear.

“Such an incredible animal, that you felt the need to take their life?! This is barbaric and shameful. What a cruel thing to do. This animal was living their life free, and here you come along and take it from them. You should really be ashamed of yourself,” wrote one user.

“Are you happy with this achievement? People are confused about eating meat to survive compared to killing a beautiful bear to have fun and be a hero for you. I am sad to see how people celebrate the murder of this poor bear just to have fun. You can use your popularity for something good for society,” another added.

A third commented: “This is plain horrific why would you want to do this?! This is not a sport this is murder.”

Other comments included: “Such an incredible animal [yet] you felt you needed to shoot it and pose with its corpse,” and “I’m not even particularly vocal about animal rights and even I think this is f****** pathetic”

However, this isn’t the first time, Wentz, has posted pictures of the animals he’s hunted.  Alongside his brother, Zach, he runs the hunting YouTube channel Wentz Bros Outdoors, and the duo’s Instagram is regularly updated with their trophies—including ducks, deer and turkeys.
