The ‘game changer’ plant-based double cream is said to ‘deliver the same creamy richness as dairy’.
Flora that sells under the brand Becel in North America has launched a vegan whipping cream in the UK for professionals of the foodservice industry.
Food giant Upfield Professional, which owns Flora has made the 100% plant-based double cream allergen free using fava beans and vegetable oils.
The versatile dairy alternative ingredients in the blend are said to “deliver the same creamy richness as dairy” and “provide creamy richness, depth of taste and indulgent mouthfeel.”
According to the brand, the double cream is suitable for whipping, pouring and cooking in both sweet and savoury applications.
Game changer
Describing the new product as a ‘game-changer for the foodservice industry’, Alan Black, head of marketing at Upfield Professional said: “ Not only does it cater to those following a vegan diet, Flora Plant helps chefs overcome the challenge of managing allergens, which if not handled extremely carefully, can lead to a loss in customers, or even worse, criminal prosecution,” reported FoodBev Media.
“We believe following a vegan diet, or a diet that requires the removal of specific allergens, shouldn’t mean compromising on taste, and with Flora Plant, operators know they can serve delicious dairy-free dishes to all consumers with total confidence.”
The company is giving out free samples to food professionals including chefs, bakers, and those working in food services. You can order them here.
