Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s toddler is being raised on a largely plant-based diet.

According to reports, Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor, who recently turned two, is thriving in LA’s outdoorsy lifestyle and has taken to the city’s healthy eating mindset.

Moreover, Markle – a known advocate of sustainable living – loves to cook ‘clean and green’ food for her son.

In CBS documentary – Meghan and Harry Plus One – friends of the royal couple gave an insight into the types of foods Archie likely eats at home.

Meghan’s makeup artist friend Daniel Martin told Gayle King: “I’m sure [Archie is] going to be raised clean and green. Meghan loves to cook – eating organic whenever she can.

“I totally see her making her own baby food.”

Another source said: “Meghan is an environmentally conscious person and she wants to raise Archie and her future daughter to be the same.

“Whenever possible, Meghan creates plant-based, brightly coloured dishes for Archie as opposed to anything meat or fish based. He loves it.”

While it is not confirmed that Markle is vegan, the American actress, who wed Prince Harry in 2018, previously confirmed she tries to maintain a vegan diet during the week, though she may splurge on the weekends.

In an interview with the magazine Best Health, Markle said: “When I’m filming, I’m conscious of what I eat. I try to eat vegan during the week and then have a little bit more flexibility with what I dig into on the weekends.”

While apple slices with almond butter and sea salt is one of Meghan’s favourite snacks, her son loves eating waffles in the morning.

Prince Harry in his interview with James Corden on The Late Late Show said: “Interestingly, my grandmother asked us what Archie wanted for Christmas and Meg said a waffle maker, she sent us a waffle maker for Archie…so breakfast now, Meg makes up a beautiful organic mix, in the waffle maker, flip it, out it comes, he loves it.

“Archie literally wakes up in the morning and says ‘waffle’.”

Animal advocate

Meghan Markle is also an avid animal lover and loves rescuing animals.

Earlier this year, during an interview with Oprah Winfrey, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry revealed they rescued chickens from a factory farm.

Back in 2018, Markle adopted a dog from animal rescue A Dog’s Dream.

“I just love rescuing,” Markle told Winfrey.
